The highest waterfalls in India is Jog waterfalls. It is located in the Shimoga District of Karnataka. It is on the Sharavathi River which originates from the Western Ghats, in the midst of dense evergreen forests, from a height of 829 feet in four magnificent cascades namely Raja, Rani, Roarer, and Rocket. Winter season is the best time to visit the jog falls as the sky is clearer. But During Monsoons, the Jog falls looks great with full of water and you can see spectacular rainbows created every now and then. It is a great experience heightened by the wild and vegetative region which give way to the falls. The rocky steps will lead you to the depth of the falls and the drops of water that fall into the rocks will bounce back to give you a vapors spray. Across the river Sharavathi, there is a Dam Linganmakki which is near to the said waterfalls and there is Mahatma Gandhi hydro-electric power station operating to serve as an important source of eclectic current for the state of Karnataka. And it is stated to be one of the largest hydroelectric stations in the country. The name of Mahatma Gandhi hydro-electric power station was previously known as Krishna Rajendra hydro-electric project.
