This temple is committed to Devi Kannagi or Mangala and is at a distance of about 15 km from Thekkady. Located on the peak of a cliff and surrounded by trees, this temple is toured by many pilgrims. However, it is needed to get authorization from the wildlife authorities in Thekkady to visit the place.

This town is very attractive as a sale center for cardamom spices. Ideally, the whole town is loaded with plantations of cardamom filling the air with the lingering fragrance of the aromatic spice. Anchuruli is a lesser known tourist spot in Idukki district for many tourists. 10 kilometers away from Kattappana, this small village allows you the breathtaking scenes of the catchment area of Idukki dam, particularly during monsoon season.

 

Anchuruli

The main performance of Anchuruli is the 4 kilometers long tunnel from Erattayar through which water is streaming from a dam at Erattayar. The neighboring area is an evergreen jungle with wild animals.

The name Anchuruli received from the 5 small hills that are submerged in the reservoir and they look like modified vessels.

 

Anchuruli is a  tourist spot for many people in and around Idukki. If you are traveling to Vagamon for a family tour, you can add Anchuruli also in the program.

 

The nearby terminal to Kumily is Madurai Airport, which is placed at a distance of 151 km from the spot. Trains are also possible, which are helped by Kottayam Railway Station, located at a distance of 106 km.
